The Experience
Kyoto served as Japan’s imperial capital for over a millennium and remains the country's cultural centre. With over 2,000 temples and shrines, the city provides a deep look into traditional Japanese aesthetics and spiritual practices.
Kinkaku-ji: The "Golden Pavilion" is perhaps Kyoto's most iconic site. The top two storeys are completely covered in gold leaf, reflecting beautifully in the surrounding "Mirror Pond."
Kiyomizu-dera: A historic Buddhist temple known for its massive wooden stage that juts out from the hillside. It offers panoramic views of the city and is particularly stunning during the cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons.
Fushimi Inari Taisha: Famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates that trail up Mount Inari. It is open 24 hours, allowing for atmospheric evening walks away from the peak daytime crowds.
